Where it all started
When I first moved to Copenhagen, I was amazed by how health-conscious everyone was — always running, biking, and swimming. But there was one thing missing: healthy snacks that actually tasted good!
Every supermarket shelf seemed filled with potato chips and sugary treats. I wanted something I could happily pack in my daughter’s tiffin — a snack that was ready to eat, wholesome, and delicious. But there was nothing that fit the bill.
Our Story
Back in India, I grew up snacking on Makhanas — light, crunchy lotus seeds that are not only tasty but also a natural superfood packed with nutrients.
So, I started adding them to my daughter’s tiffin here in Copenhagen. To my surprise, her friends couldn’t get enough! Soon, they were all asking for “those yummy puffs” she brought from home.
One day, when a few friends came over for coffee, I served Makhanas instead of chips. Within minutes, the bowl was empty, and everyone was asking which supermarket I’d bought them from.
That’s when it clicked, “Why shouldn’t something this tasty and nutritious be easily available for everyone here?”
And that’s how the idea to introduce Makhanas to Copenhagen was born.
The journey wasn’t easy. Coming from the corporate world, I’d led innovation and product launches before — but this time, I was a one-woman army with a big dream. Bit by bit, batch by batch, things started falling into place.
Today, Zeno stands as a celebration of that journey — bringing a taste of home, a dash of nostalgia, and a whole lot of healthy goodness to snack lovers in Denmark.
